Christine Herron has designed original, hand made products for her company Red Chair Studio for over fourteen years. Trained as an illustrator and painter at Rhode Island School of Design, she has worked with a variety of mediums including oils, egg tempera, gold leaf gilding and watercolor. Currently she is designing textiles and creating a line of hand dyed silk wearables.

In all of her creative endeavors, it is the uncommon use of color, sensitivity to the materials and love of the natural world that remains central to her work.

“I have always had the desire to celebrate the natural world through my designs. The nuance of color of a flower petal or the shape of a curled leaf sparks a dialog between the object and my artist self. It shapes my intentions as a designer. This dialog creates an expansive understanding of color and form and feeds my creative process, wherever it takes me.”

In her Rhode Island studio, she now hand dyes small batches of luminous velvet and silk scarves, prints her own textiles and hand sews one-of-a-kind “Blossom Pins.” Her unique sense of color and refined design skills are reflected in this casually elegant collection. These are available in museum stores, fine craft galleries and boutiques in the USA and abroad.
